The Upper Nazareth Township Fire Department (established in 1942) is an all volunteer unit committed to helping the community meet today’sfire protection needs. The mission of the Department is to serve and protect lives and property of the Township as well as those who work and/or pass through the Township. The department responds to all emergencies with a customer first philosophy and takes pride in providing a total system approach of serving the communitywith other Township agencies.

As an all volunteer unit, the fire department depends on your financial support through the annual fund drive, fund raiser projects, support from the Board of Supervisors and Social Club. We are responsible for purchasing and maintenance of trucks and all equipment and the fire station.

We welcome you to visit our station any Monday evening during drill nights and participate in our Fire Prevention Programs in October.

History

In July of 1942, eighty-nine residents filed a petition in the court of Common Pleas for incorporation of a fire company known as the East Lawn Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. On August 3rd, 1942, the petition was granted and property was secured off East Lawn Road for a firehouse. The first Fire Truck in the Station was a 1917 La France Pumper.

Today, 65 Years Later, the Township has grown as well as our Fire Department. Our name has changed to Upper Nazareth Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. To ensure that our residents know we are serving all of Upper Nazareth Township.

We have increased our equipment to meet the demands of the Township, from one Pumper to a 204 Smeal Pumper/Rescue, 1995 Freightliner Pumper/Tanker, 1985 Pierce Brush Truck, and a 1976 American La France Pumper.

We currently have 25 active members, encompassing Firefighters, Junior Firefighters and Fire Police. Any interested resident is Welcome to join and help out, whether it is for the above or just to be a supporting member, helping out in everyday events.

We meet every Monday evening from 6pm to 9pm. We are located at 25 Newport Avenue, right off Route 191, (East Lawn Road).
